1. Brief Introduction
CMC, a polyanionic electrolyte, is a white to yellowish powdered product that is odorless, tasteless, and physiologically harmless. It is readily hygroscopic and soluble in water to become a viscous solution. It cannot be fermented and has good properties of salt- and heat- resistance and film-forming ability. It is also a strong emulsifier for grease.

Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) has good water solubility. It has functions of thickening, binding, water-maintaining, emulsifying, and suspending, etc. in its water solution, so it can be widely used as thickener, water-maintainer, dispersing agent, emulsifier, stabilizer, and adhesive�
The main application fields of CMC are in industries of food, toothpaste, oil drilling, medicine, ceramics, coating, paper making, etc.
